Review: McDonald's - Chicken McNuggets

McDonald's Chicken McNugget 4-pieceMy Favorite Chicken Nuggets

Ah, the Chicken McNugget, another McDonald's staple. Formless pieces of minced chicken bits, battered, and deep-fried to a golden, crispy sheen. I pick up these when SoCal McDonald's was running a promotion that featured four Chicken McNuggets (i.e. the child's size) for a dollar.

McDonald's Chicken McNugget I've always preferred Chicken McNuggets over the breaded chicken nuggets found at other fast food places but maybe it's because I grew up eating them. I treasure fond memories of Chicken McNuggets dipped in barbeque and sweet and sour sauce.

Nowadays, they've added honey mustard and hot mustard to the mix. Also, the sauces for McDonald's Chicken Select strips are also available upon request (spicy buffalo, creamy ranch, tangy honey mustard and southwestern chipotle). I don't recommend the Chicken Select sauces with McNuggets though; I've tried them all and they're a bit too strong and don't go well with the flavor of the Chicken McNuggets.  It makes sense since they weren't formulated with McNuggets in mind like the McNugget sauces.  I'm told other countries have other sauces to suit each locale as well; sauces such as curry, sweet chili, and garlic.
Chicken McNugget close-up Chicken McNuggets used to be made of a blend of white and dark meat but in more recent years switched to all-white meat due to consumer health concerns. I liked the old blend better, dark meat has more flavor.  But they are still my favorite chicken nuggets.

They are obviously not very good for you so I wouldn't recommend eating too many. I was told by a friend that her friend ate 100 McNuggets in a sitting though.  I'm pretty sure that can't be good for a body.
